Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained his belief that the UK embassy in Kabul and the actions of the Armed Forces since 2001 has and will keep the country 'safer'.
457 members of the UK armed forces have been killed since the start of the conflict.
He added that the world cannot 'shrink from the hard reality of the situation' and said he aims to use regional partners like Pakistan to continue to help the people of Afghanistan.
