Boxer Lovlina Borgohain guarantees India a medal at Tokyo Olympics

India's wait for a second medal at the Tokyo Olympics has come to an end.

Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) assured India of its first boxing medal by overtaking former world champion, Nien-Chin Chen of Chinese Taipei.

She won 4-1 to make it to the last four, where she will face defending world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey, who defeated Ukraine's Anna Lysenko in her quarterfinal bout.

Borgohain is now the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal, after Vijender Singh and Mary Kom, both bronze.

Borgohain, a two-time World Championships bronze medalist, showed tremendous calm in the face of a daring opponent who had beaten her in the past.
