Crowds gathered in Kandahar on Tuesday night to cheer the return of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban's co-founder.
Baradar has been in exile in Qatar for the past few months but has returned to the Taliban's spiritual birthplace after the Islamist group regained control of Afghanistan.
Footage posted on social media appears to show delighted crowds meeting Baradar as he was driven in a car from Kandahar's airport.
