Geronimo the alpaca has been killed after lengthy court battle

Geronimo the alpaca has been killed by vets after being removed from a Gloucestershire farm by police, Government officials have confirmed.

Uniformed officers wearing facemasks and a group of people dressed in blue overalls and goggles arrived at the farm in Wickwar on Tuesday morning.

The High Court had ruled Geronimo must be destroyed after twice testing positive for bovine TB. Owner Helen Macdonald insisted the tests may have given false positives.

Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss said: “This is a terribly sad situation and our sympathies remain with all those affected by this devastating disease."
