Ever hear the term 'slapstick comedy' thrown around casually when talking about comedies in classic cinema? It doesn't mean just any physical comedy, but is it's own sub-set.
In this video I talk about what slapstick comedy is, how slapstick comedy got its name, why it was so popular, where it originated, and I give a few examples.
We'll talk about classics like Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel, Buster Keaton, as well as comedy groups like the Marx Brothers!
This is definitely an oversimplified, bit-sized explanation of slapstick comedy on purpose. If you are already a fan, what are some other pointers you find a beginner might find helpful? Let me know in the comment section below! Give me your favorite slapstick comedies while you're there!
I hope you find something interesting in my videos! I have some fun stuff coming up in the next few weeks and I’m excited to see you here!
