Let’s discuss the Department’s “Guidance for Completing a Dam Breach Analysis for Small Ponds and Dams in Maryland” which is currently in draft format but being finalized! This presentation will focus on how hazard classifications of a dam can change over time, some perhaps as the result of downstream development that may not have been anticipated at the time of construction. That farm pond, or flood control structure, built decades ago in a predominantly rural area may now be in a highly developed urban area.
