In one of the world's richest countries, no one should ever go hungry.
The Government’s cut to the "£20 uplift" of Universal Credit is fast approaching, and with it devastating results for food insecurity. Trussell Trust research suggests almost half of Universal Credit claimants will be forced to cut back on food for themselves, while 13 per cent – 220,000 people – said that they would cut back on food for their children.
Jonathan Reynolds MP (the Labour & Co-operative Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions), Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP (Scottish Labour Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice & Social Security) and Iain Porter from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation discuss the devastating impact this cut will have and how we can campaign to keep this vital lifeline.
