These 7 Factors Determine Investment Performance:
Beginning investors often have a lot of questions they want answered in order to help them understand what to look for in an investment. Things like the earnings per share, price-to-earnings or price-to-book ratio of the fund are often mentioned but so are things like how long the investment manager has been with the fund (particularly if it is an actively managed fund), candlestick and other charts, recent momentum of the investment, and the growth potential of the investment (which as you can imagine is pretty hard to pin down and can often vary from investor to investor). But when you get right down to it, assuming you are investing long-term and in reasonably well-diversified funds, you may not need to go into quite so much detail to build an investment portfolio that is likely to perform well for you in the long-run. That doesn’t mean you can’t get anything worthwhile from those more systematic analyses, because of course you can, but it may not be necessary to get a decent idea of how your net worth is going to grow over time. As it turns out there are roughly 7 factors that do a fairly good job at telling you whether an investment portfolio is likely to perform well for you in the long-run or not. And that’s what we’re going to be discussing today. Let’s talk about the factors that influence the growth of your nest egg and how you can optimize your investment plan to get the most out of your money.
