A violent storm at dawn struck with great force on the interior of Vega Baja, in Elche, as well as on the city of Alicante. In the Sierra Nevada mountain range in southern Spain, temperatures dropped to -12ºC in the early morning. The storm also resulted in heavy rainfall in the province of Alicante in the Valencia region and in the south of Catalonia. In the province of Tarragona, 67 millimeters of rain fell per hour. Thus, today has become the rainiest day in November since 1920. Heavy hail also hit the cities of Alicante and Elche. Snow is expected in ten regions when the winter storm begins in Spain.
