Homicide suspect and accomplice's release widely criticized in South Bay

The political tug of war over criminal justice reforms is playing out in Santa Clara County. At issue is the release without bail of two suspects in a Halloween homicide.

Efrain Anzures, 27, and Alfred Castillo, 26, both of San Jose, were arrested in November. Ultimately, Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Philip Pennypacker decided that Anzures can be released on home arrest with an ankle monitor and Castillo must appear in court on his own recognizance.
