France and Germany humiliated in 6th-gen fighter jet production 'Impossible to complete'.
The news comes as BAE System Tempest is making strides along the way, with one aviation expert claiming the program has an "insurmountable lead" over its so-called European rival. FCAS or SCAF. Plans were announced at the Farnborough International Airshow that Tempest would take to the skies within five years as a supersonic performer.
For the Franco-German-Spanish project, however, delays have prompted some officials to raise concerns about the program.
The project was supposed to enter the next phase late last year, but main contractors Dassault Aviation and Airbus Defense and Space could not agree on the division of work for the next-generation fighter element.
