We have been watching YouTubers over the years just absolutely reeling in monster fish after monster fish, and it always appears like it is so simple to get out there and catch a fish. Just pop a few holes in the ice, toss in some lines and "BAM" fish after fish! However, for us it has never just been that simple. It takes a long time to learn a body of water to find the good fishing spots, and know when a particular spot is going to work or not. For us on this particular day after a long morning or fishing, we were able to finially hook into a few walleye or "pickerel" as many folks in Canada seem to call them. They were biting very light and it was difficult to know when you had one on your line without paying close attention. It ended up being a gorgeous sunny afternoon with a handful of fish caught, unfortunately none of them were in this lakes particular slot size and we had to put them all back. Catch and release is just as fun! Looking forward to this years ice fishing season!
